Technology: Typewriter telephone
Year invented: early 1900’s
Inventor: William E Shaw
What purpose does the technology serve: This was created as an adaption to the Teleprinter. It was invented specifically to benefit deaf people in communicating over long distances.
How did it work: There was a typewriter that the sender would type on and the receiver would have a board of light bulbs that lit up as the sender was messaging them. This was done electronically through telephone lines.
